Why EU-MATTER

Young people often encounter European policies as distant, complex or difficult to navigate. This can limit their ability to understand how decisions are made and how they can take part in civic life.

EU-MATTER was created to respond to this gap by making knowledge more accessible and by encouraging informed participation across Europe.

The Partnership

EU-MATTER is developed by a transnational partnership of organizations working across Europe, bringing together complementary expertise to support civic learning, participation and dialogue among young people in different national and local contexts.

Civil society and youth engagement

The partnership includes organizations with extensive experience in working with young people and civil society actors. Their work focuses on fostering active citizenship, inclusion and participation at local, national and European level.

Civic education and policy expertise

Partners contribute knowledge and experience in civic education and European public policy. This expertise supports the development of learning resources that help young people better understand institutions, decision-making processes and democratic values.

Media and communication

The partnership brings together experience in media production, communication and digital storytelling. This supports the creation of accessible and engaging content that helps translate complex topics into formats that are relevant and understandable for young audiences.

Why EU-MATTER is European by design

EU-MATTER is designed as a shared digital space that reflects Europe’s diversity, common challenges and civic life, supporting learning and participation across countries.

Shared European challenges

Many of the issues that shape young people’s lives today, such as climate change, digital transformation, democratic participation and social inclusion, are addressed at European level and affect countries across the EU in similar ways. EU-MATTER responds to these shared challenges by offering common learning resources and participatory spaces accessible across borders.

Cross-border dialogue

EU-MATTER creates opportunities for young people from different countries to exchange perspectives, compare experiences and engage in dialogue on shared topics. By connecting participants across national contexts, the project supports mutual understanding and a broader European conversation.
